Thousands of supporters of Lebanese President Michel Aoun demonstrated yesterday on the road to the Presidential Palace in Baabda, east of Beirut, to express their support for him. Aoun delivered a speech to thousands of supporters who rallied on the presidential palace road. He was broadcast to the crowds on huge screens and on television channels.

"I call on everyone to unite," Aoun said.

"We have drawn up a three-point roadmap: corruption, the economy and the civil state," he said, without giving further details. He called for unifying the squares, saying: "We need your effort, to a square of you and those who are demonstrating to defend your rights."

Aoun raised the badges of victory and went to his supporters by saying: "You came here to tell me we are with you and I tell you I am with you, through you I see the people of Lebanon all, and I say to you I also love you all means all of you," borrowing the slogan "all means all of them", which he uses Protesters demand the departure of all components of the political class.

Speaking in front of the crowd, Bassil said, criticizing the protesters' movements: “Instead of blocking the roads, we should stop the MP who refuses to pass these laws, the politician who escapes accountability, and the judge who does not want to be held accountable or the law enforced.”

Like Aoun, Bassil called for the unification of the demonstrations as well. "We are here not to contradict the protesting people, but to strengthen them and stand with them and complete all of us together," he said.
