Pirates boarded the ship during early Saturday morning on Benin's coast, reports Dagens Næringsliv. They refer to the Norwegian shipping company Ugland, which owns the ship and has reported the incident on its website.
According to Ugland, nine people from the crew of the ship have been kidnapped from the ship by the pirates. All nine are Filipino citizens, the Norwegian trade association Norsk Shipowners' Association reports to DN.
