During the week, the University Hospital in Örebro will participate to get more people to decide on donation. According to the National Board of Health, eight out of ten Swedes are positive about organ and tissue donations, but despite this, many donations are not implemented. The reason is that neither the healthcare nor the relatives know what the deceased person has for donation.

More names for the register

According to Yvonne Karlsson, nurse at the dialysis clinic at USÖ, the donation week is extremely important.

- I hope that more people submit their name to the donation register, that people become more aware of it and that patients get their freedom.

"Get a freedom"

For patients undergoing dialysis, a new kidney represents a chance for a better life, says Yvonne Karlsson.

- You can return to work, you get a freedom that you do not have as a dialysis patient. Therefore, it is important to donate a kidney. This week will be a reminder to donate, she says.

Anyone who wants can get information about donation, and help register in the donation register, in the Galleria on USÖ between 4th and 10th October.
