The Briton Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes), who has a 74-point lead in the drivers' standings, will be world champion F1 at the US Grand Prix on Sunday if he keeps 52 points more than his Finnish teammate Valtteri Bottas.

Hamilton will be titled:

- if Bottas does not win, regardless of their respective positions,

- if he finishes in the first 8 if Bottas wins, whether or not the Finn takes the point of the best lap,

- if he ranks 9th and takes the point of the best lap in case of Bottas victory without the best lap.

If Hamilton ended the season with the same number of points as Bottas, it would be sacred thanks to his greater number of victories (the Briton has ten and the Finn three while there are three races to contend).

As a reminder, of the 18 races played this season, Hamilton finished 17 in the top 8. The only time the five-time world champion finished beyond (9th in Germany), his team-mate gave up (accident).
