SVT News Örebro has previously reported that many motorists experience problems with e-mail invoices from some of the companies behind the parking apps. According to testimony, invoices have been among other things in the junk mail and criticism has been directed at short due dates, which has led to reminder fees.

In most parking apps it is possible to enter credit card details, but if the motorist, for example, registers the parking via sms, the payment is made by invoice.

Karlskoga has procured

One of the municipalities that procured the service is Karlskoga who directly procured a parking app 2016.

- The requirement we then made was that it would not entail any extra charge for private persons except the parking fee, except if you receive a paper invoice, says Erik Tönnäng, Accounting Manager in the municipality.

There are some criticisms of how some of these companies handle the email invoices - why haven't you made more demands?

- There was no thought that showed up there and then. I think these are very important views and we will take to the next procurement that these types of situations can arise, he says.

"I can understand the layout of the app companies commercially, that it will be too expensive to take it through the telephone companies, and then it will automatically be like this," says Erik Tönnäng about that it is not possible to pay for individual parking via sms. Photo: Philip Naskret / SVT

When SVT and Karlskoga Municipality look at three of the largest parking app companies, none of them offer so-called e-invoices, ie an invoice that comes directly to the bank. The current agreement in Karlskoga extends to September next year, with the possibility of extending another year.

Require e-invoice

According to Erik Tönnäng, precisely e-invoice can be something that the municipality will require in the next procurement.

- For example, you avoid the problem that an e-mail invoice can get stuck in a spam filter. If you get it on the bank, you see it, he says.

What do you think about the fact that many of the major players in the industry currently do not offer e-invoicing?

- I think it's a shame and think they would benefit from developing that part of their business. I think they will win in the long run.
