This interview with RIA Novosti was announced by the Director General of the Research Institute for Long-Range Radio Communications (NIIDR) Kirill Makarov.

According to him, the researchers are at the beginning of the path to study the properties of the terahertz range.

“As part of this work, we are trying to create an inspection complex that will detect prohibited items, including explosives, weapons that people are trying to carry somewhere,” he said.

He added that the complexes currently installed at airports and at the station use X-rays that affect humans. According to Makarov, the created complex has practically no effect on humans.

“In addition, it is installed secretly, that is, a person will not see whether they control him or not. It has a much longer range than X-ray systems, ”he said.

According to him, NIIDR specialists have a laboratory installation, by the end of the year they will "try to bring it into demonstration execution in order to offer it to customers."

Earlier, the FSB announced plans to introduce automatic cabins for allowing citizens to pass on biometric documents at airports.
