The figure of the pro-democracy movement of the former British colony announced that his candidacy for the next local elections had been invalidated. Joshua Wong denounced a "political filtering" and a "censorship".

Joshua Wong, a pro-democracy figure in Hong Kong, said Tuesday that his candidacy for the next local elections had been invalidated, while the former British colony is experiencing its worst political crisis since its return to Beijing in 1997.

"I strongly condemn the fact that the government is engaged in political filtering and censorship, and deprives me of my political rights," the activist said in a statement on his Facebook page.
