The fifth edition of the Qatar Information Technology Conference and Exhibition (KITCOM), which will be held under the theme 'Safe and Smart Cities', will kick off in Doha on Tuesday.

The conference, sponsored by the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and organized by the Ministry of Communications and Communications, aims to create a knowledge platform for technology providers, policy makers, experts and opinion leaders, through which they can demonstrate innovative and more advanced technology.

KITCOM 2019, the largest ICT event in Qatar, targets a global audience, especially startups, innovators, entrepreneurs, academics and investors.

The first day will include a series of keywords and discussion sessions for Code Camp. On the second day, the Creative Ideas Camp will be held. The final day will see a special session to present ideas and presentations, followed by the awards ceremony for startups.

Discussion sessions
The conference is scheduled to discuss several topics during the discussion sessions, most notably the development of safe and smart cities, the future of service delivery and emerging technology, lessons learned from women entrepreneurs, major trends, the three things of interest to investors, and other topics.

Reem Al Mansouri, Assistant Undersecretary for Digital Society Development at the Ministry of Communications and Communications, stressed the importance of the conference as a global platform aimed at enhancing awareness and understanding about the future of smart cities and developing smart initiatives for a sustainable future.

It considers that Qatar has made remarkable progress in the recent period in achieving leadership in the use of information technology, and encourage digital transformation in the five priority sectors in the drive to diversify the economy and support the growth strategy.

She added that the conference is an excellent opportunity for all parties in the ICT sector, as well as interested parties from other sectors, to get acquainted with the latest developments in this field. Global Smart Cities.

More than 100 speakers representing 30 countries, 276 local companies and institutions from the public and private sectors, including 50 startups, and 168 international companies and institutions, including 50 startups, will participate in the conference.
