October 28, 2019The first yes, even if conditioned by 16 posts, is coming from the Milan City Council classroom for the Inter and Milan project for a new stadium.

Sixteen in fact the conditions dictated by the Municipal Council of Milan for the realization of the new stadium project that Inter and Milan would like to realize in the San Siro area.

The posts are contained in the agenda presented by the center-left majority which was approved during the meeting with 27 votes in favor, 11 against, 7 abstentions.

The agenda approved by the majority of the municipal council invites "the mayor and the council, in view of the choice they will have to make, to consider the fulfillment of certain conditions as decisive and unavoidable." Among these, the request not to demolish the existing stadium but to think about its redevelopment stands out. The document asks mayor and Giunta "the opening of a phase of confrontation with the subjects involved that has the objective of defining a detailed project, which is a driving force for urban regeneration".

"The project - the document reads - considers (during construction, design and maintenance) the priority objective of minimizing the environmental impact (air quality, noise pollution, consumption of energy and water resources, land consumption and increase in permeability, reduction of construction site impacts, sustainable mobility) by creating a "car free" sport and service citadel, which connects the neighborhood through green corridors to large areas located to the west ".

The agenda also calls for greater attention to be paid to green areas: "Also in light of the fact that the green area in the San Siro area is currently 18% of the total space, the project will have to foresee a significant increase in the number of public green areas available compared to the current situation, also ensuring compliance with environmental criteria that the new PGT (Territorial Government Plan) outlines ". He then asked that "a substantial revision of the settlement load be achieved with respect to what was proposed by the proposal by reducing the volumetric indexes in the area of the GFU (Major urban functions)". And that "the area's sporting vocation is strengthened, so that it is prevalent with respect to all the other functions envisaged (in particular GSV and tertiary)".

Finally, the part relating to the no to the demolition of the Meazza: "Also in the light of the opinions expressed by the Superintendency, the Polytechnic and the Conference of the services, the suppression hypothesis of the Meazza Stadium is considered to be outdated. Therefore a specific proposal must be envisaged in about the re-functioning of the existing building In any case, every effort must be guaranteed to find effective solutions with a high architectural landscape quality for the redevelopment project, based on the needs of the city and the requests for services in a sporting area (Cittadella del sport) also imagining new and renewed functions (women's football, youth sector, other sports and sporting and extra-sport events, cultural shows, concerts, other) ".

Antonello: modified project is sustainable
"We will listen to the indications to try to understand if the proposal presented on the stadium, albeit modified based on what will be indicated to us, will have that economic-financial sense of sustainability that makes a project of this size go forward".

This was stated by the managing director of Inter, Alessandro Antonello, during the press conference at the end of the shareholders' meeting that approved the financial statements at June 30, 2019, intervening on the theme of the stadium. The possible difficulties on the San Siro project led the Nerazzurri club, together with Milan, to re-evaluate the possibility of a Plan B today represented by the Sesto San Giovanni option.

"We cannot do without this project. Regardless of the conditions we want to act quickly," added President Steven Zhang.
