4 students create an electronic game to raise awareness of information security

Four students studying information security at the Higher Colleges of Technology in Abu Dhabi, created an electronic game to raise awareness of information security using virtual reality technology, and won the first place as the best project in the field of risk management and business continuity in the professional research competition, organized by Abu Dhabi Ports on the sidelines of events HSE Week, recently held under the theme “Risk Management and Business Continuity”.

Amna Salem, Khawla Al Hammadi, Maha Nasser and Maryam Al Hammadi told Emirates Today that the project relies on the use of electronic games in contexts that exceed their goals, explaining that the project aims to raise awareness of the dangers of the Internet and how to achieve information security, especially at the level of New employees in the workplace, so that they are informed about the bases and caveats they should be aware of, to ensure the security and protection of information, and not to expose the employer or the individual to any risks or responsibilities in this area.

The students pointed to the use of virtual reality technology in the implementation of the project, which comes in the form of an electronic game includes several levels, put at each level the employee in different situations and situations to ask him about the correct behavior in this case, and if the employee answered correctly move to the next level. If he provides the wrong answer, he is identified with the correct answer, to try again to move to the next stage, pointing out that the use of virtual reality and the elements and mechanisms of electronic games of attraction to the target, to ensure the arrival of information in the correct and effective. The students said that the implementation of the project requires technical skills related to programming and dealing with virtual reality technology, stressing that their applied study enabled them to do research, and cooperate with professors concerned with computer science and information to learn the best technical programs and how to apply them, which strengthened their abilities and expertise in the field of technology.
