At 17:30 on Monday evening, it was discovered that a small island, consisting of grass, silt and trees, was operating down the Norsälven at Älvenäs south of Karlstad at high speed.

- It is a land mass that has worn off somewhere northwards, it is unclear exactly where. This is probably due to the recent rain, says Ola Åkesson at the rescue service in the Karlstad region.

According to Ola Åkesson, the land mass is about 15-20 meters long and a few meters wide. Since there are boats and jetties in the area, the emergency services had to move out to try to prevent injuries. However, the voyage in Norsälven went without problems for the small island and the rescue services have been most able to devote themselves to guarding the situation.

- Now it is in the area where the Norsälven river flows into Lake Vänern, where it is a little less current so it does not have as high speed now, says Ola Åkesson.

However, the emergency services still remain in the area and are now working to somehow anchor the land mass to land.
