20 October 2019The longest commercial flight in history is the one operated by the Australian company Qantas on the New York-Sidney route. 19 hours and 16 minutes without a stop the duration, a journey that allowed to break the previous record of 18 hours and 45 minutes, held by Singapore Airlines on the Newark - Singapore route.

The goal was not to hit the record: Qantas in fact conducted a series of crew and passenger tests in order to monitor stress levels and the effects of jet lag.

The outcomes are defined as positive: on very long routes direct flights would have less impact than those with stopovers.
