The Sundrum clinic in Halmstad, which is part of the Practitioner Service, believes that they have reached the ceiling for what the two doctors and four nurses can handle. Now waiting times are increasing to get a doctor's time.

- Today we have 2,700 patients listed and there has been a steadily increasing proportion in recent years, between 10 to 15 new patients per month. Now we can no longer cope if we are to be able to offer reasonable medical time for our listed patients, says Mats Rydberg, one of the doctors.

Has reached a limit

He points out that there is always an ongoing movement among patients to list them. The reasons may vary, but one reason is that you do not believe that you get medical time quickly enough at the health center you are listed on. But now the situation has become acute at Söndrum Clinic, says Mats Rydberg.

- We have reached a limit, but according to the agreement with Region Halland we must continue to receive new patients according to the free choice of care. But it will not be good for anyone, not our patients and not for our staff, says Mats Rydberg.

Last year, three health centers in Varberg were allowed by the region to have a listing stop for three months to resolve an urgent patient situation.

Calls for a ceiling for the number of patients per doctor

Mats Rydberg at Söndrum Clinic calls for a ceiling on how many patients are reasonable that a doctor at a health care center can manage.

- Both Denmark and Norway have introduced ceilings that limit the number of patients per doctor, says Mats Rydberg, who hopes for new directives in

the investigation of primary care that is currently underway on the government's mission and which will be completed in the spring of 2020.

The region says no

The Sondrum Clinic received immediate response from Region Halland.

- The region has announced via letter that we do not meet our request for a temporary listing stop, unfortunately, says doctor Mats Rydberg.

How do you look at it?

- We have to accept it. After all, we have entered into an agreement where we have accepted the rules of the game in order to provide care. If not, the region can terminate the agreement with us, replies Mats Rydberg
