Community FM, which was just starting this month in Chichibu City, Saitama Prefecture, and has started sending out disaster prevention information, has suffered damage due to the landslide caused by Typhoon No.19, and has been forced to stop broadcasting.

The broadcast is suspended by the community FM “Chibu FM” which was just opened on the 7th of this month in order to send out local information and disaster prevention information in the Chichibu area in the western part of Saitama Prefecture.

On the 12th of this month when Typhoon No. 19 approached, disaster prevention information such as information on evacuation was broadcast from 7 am, but the broadcast was suddenly interrupted around 7:30 pm.

On the morning of the 13th, it was found that there was a series of landslides near the broadcasting antennas installed in the mountainous area 10 km away, and the wires and telephone lines were disconnected.

“Chichibu FM” has received support emails and faxes that it wants to resume early, so it is scheduled to install a temporary antenna and resume broadcasting this month.

According to Chichibu FM, Emi Hamada said, “Because of the Great East Japan Earthquake, I was aiming to open the station, so I felt rewarded that I could send disaster prevention information before the typhoon approached. I want to make use of this experience to broadcast more useful to the region. "
