SVT's foreign correspondent Stina Blomgren has visited a refugee camp on the Kurdish part of northern Iraq, on the border with Syria. Many Syrian Kurds have escaped the fighting. Many families thus testify that the border on the Syrian side is closed, and that smugglers have to pay to get out.

According to data, the Kurdish YPG militia does not want the Kurds to leave the area now, when the future of self-government is to be determined. Therefore, the limit is closed.

"If you open the border no one stays," says Ibrahim Hussein, also he Kurdish refugee in the camp that Stina Blomgren visited.
