Just over a year ago, the City of Helsingborg called for memories and stories from the harbor.

"History matters"

The purpose was to let people's stories take place in the new district that is emerging in the Ocean Harbor.

"If you want to create a neighborhood that means something to people, I think history plays an important role," says Jessica Engvall, unit manager at community communication.

One of the nipples was Rolf Landin, who worked for more than 40 years in the harbor. He remembers his old workplace with warmth.

- It was a nice camaraderie, very hard to understand and sometimes very long days, he says.

Gullberg and the sausage

Through Rolf, the municipality has got hold of several other port workers. Many remember one person in particular - the crane operator Bertil Gullberg.

- He used to sit up in the tap and eat his lunch, a fallow sausage. That is my strongest memory of him, Rolf laughs.

Now there is a proposal that the crane, which is located in a future park in the Ocean port, should be called Gullberg's crane.

The stories have resulted in a digital tour of Helsingborg's guide app.

- Anyone who is curious about the story can download the tour and walk around here and listen, and look at pictures, says Jessica Engvall.
