In Venezuela, President Nicolas Maduro assigns a gold mine to each region to finance his budget. As the country's worst economic crisis, oil production plummets, gold-mining revenues are growing.

A gold mine to support a region. With this new project, Nicolas Maduro wants to respond to US sanctions . The announcement was made on national television in the presence of governors from different regions.

" We will entrust a gold mine, in full productive capacity, to each government of the Bolivarian states for the production of convertible divide resources for our people, " said Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

Each region will have to manage a gold mine through which it will be able to finance its budget. Nicolas Maduro also said that the regions with the best performance will receive new mines.

It is now up to the state governors to manage this exploitation as well as the marketing of gold. But beware, not all governors, only those of the 19 regions held by Chavistes. In the remaining four regions, which were acquired by the opposition, officials selected by the executive will take care of them.

This measure aims to circumvent the US blockade, except that Venezuelan gold has also been targeted by sanctions since last March. The public company Minerven and its president Adrian Perdomo can no longer trade with the United States nor use the dollar for their transactions. The task of governors to take advantage of this windfall is therefore complicated.
