Iraq's presidencies, ministers and parliament called for an urgent investigation and accountability for those involved in the shooting and the immediate release of all peaceful protesters.

A statement issued by the Presidency stressed the need to thoroughly investigate cases of violence, excessive use of force and attacks on media channels, and to prevent any attempt to influence the conduct of investigations or withhold information.

It was also decided to refer all the files of corruption cases to trial, and follow-up the implementation of the decisions of the House of Representatives and the ministers on meeting the demands and rights of the demonstrators, and set a timetable for the implementation quickly.

The meeting of the presidents was held today at the Peace Palace in Baghdad at the invitation of President Barham Saleh.

The meeting discussed the political and security situation in the country in the light of developments following demonstrations earlier this month that led to the death of dozens and the injury of thousands.

The meeting stressed respect for freedom of media work and the security and safety of media workers, and respect for the right of Iraqis to have access to information available to journalists and disseminated and broadcast impartially, responsibility and professionalism.

The meeting approved the formation of a committee of Iraqi experts who are known for complete independence, integrity, diligence and vigilance. The work of the committee and its results by all state institutions and the forces in force.

He called the blocs and political forces in the House of Representatives to work to complete legislation to facilitate the work of reform and the fight against corruption.
