According to the Foreign Ministry, American debt to the UN regular budget has so far exceeded $ 1 billion.

“Washington’s obvious attempts to undermine the work of the organization are evident: along with an unpredictable and biased policy on issuing American visas to members of delegations, financial levers are also involved,” the department said.

Earlier, the United States did not issue visas to representatives of the Russian delegation to participate in the UN General Assembly, including the First Committee of the UN General Assembly.

The head of the First Committee, Sacha Sergio Llorenti Solis, announced his intention to appeal to the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres in connection with the issuance of American visas to delegates.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin in an interview with Izvestia said that Russia would be “more stringent about US visa requests.”
