13 October 2019The 15 year old Cori Gauff, 'enfant prodige' of American and world tennis, won his first WTA tournament in Linz, Austria, thus entering the world Top 100, moving from 110th to 71st position.'Coco', which this year had reached the round of 16 at Wimbledon and the third round at the US Open, won the final over Latvian Jelena Ostapenko with a score of 6-3, 1-6, 6-2, in a ' hour and 39 minutes of play.
The enterprise is even more remarkable because Gauff had been beaten in the qualifications by the German Korpatsch and had been rescued only thanks to the accident of the Greek Sakkari. The 15 year old beat Voegele, Kozlova, Bertens, Petkovic and Ostapenko in the order. A star was born.
