Qais Said announced his victory at the presidency of Tunisia in the second round of the presidential elections, in which he competed with candidate Nabil Karoui, head of the "Heart of Tunisia" party.

The Sigma Gonsai Foundation for Sounding Opinion announced that Qais Said won 76% against 23% for his rival Nabil Karoui.

The Amrood Foundation for Sounding Opinion said that Qais Said received 72.53% against 27.74% in favor of his rival Karoui.

Al-Jazeera correspondent Hafez Murebeh said Qais Said's supporters began celebrating after the results were released.

According to the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC), in a press conference after the counting of votes, turnout in 70% of polling stations was 57.8%.

The Commission noted that it recorded some irregularities, stressing that it did not affect the smooth functioning of the election process.

According to the Commission, about six thousand observers (observers) from six NGOs, in addition to 700 foreign observers were monitoring the conduct of the ballots, noting that it granted more than 33 thousand credentials to the representatives of the candidates competing in the second round to monitor the conduct of the ballot.

Fabio Massimo Castaldo, head of the European Union's mission to observe the presidential elections in Tunisia, said that the voting during the morning was conducted in a smooth manner, in which the electoral laws were respected, and there were no clear violations.

Castaldo added that the EU mission had examined the lack of observers for candidates or observers at a number of polling stations.

Video footage showed senators and seniors racing to cast their ballots, while young people were expected to vote higher.

Al-Jazeera correspondents in a number of voting offices in the districts of the capital, Ariana and Kasserine said that the turnout appeared to be higher in the first hours of the first round and in the legislative elections, pointing out that the vote is taking place quietly and with the deployment of security forces.

The percentage of voters abroad reached about 14% during the past two days, and the Electoral Commission expected to increase the turnout by the end of the third day of the poll.

The independent candidate Qais Saeed came in first place during the first round with 18.4% of the vote, compared to 15.6% for second place Nabil Karawi.
