In February, the recreation department in the bathhouse Qpoolen was closed after the plastic in the steam sauna cracked and mold was collected in the cracks. The cleaning in the whirlpool has also stopped working.

During a tour, the bathhouse manager shows that there are flaws almost everywhere in the facility. This is something that many bathers have noticed.

"Need to be urgently done"

One of them is the treatment educator Pia Thuresson, who visits the Qpool twice a week with some of the children from the school where she works.

- The bathtub has not been functional and it is sad for the children who want to jump. I think they should spend more money on the bathhouse and restore it, because it will attract more people, ”she says.

- Something urgent needs to be done. We have lost a lot of visitors, people do not feel it is good to come here, says Eva-Lotta Gustafsson, bathhouse manager.

Difficult to keep the water clean

A report from the municipality shows that renovations for almost SEK 60 million must be completed in Qpool within five years. Among other things, the ventilation and the treatment plant must be refurbished.

At the moment, a maximum of 90 people can bathe at the same time, otherwise the water cannot be kept clean.

- This weekend when there is competition we have to make sure that there are not too many in the pools at the same time, then we have to stop them. If it has been clothes swims, we can temporarily close until we get better water quality again, ”says Eva-Lotta Gustafsson.

"Money does not exist"

On the list of things that need to be addressed, politicians have only made a decision on one point. It is about the steam sauna and the whirlpool that will be renovated for SEK 1.2 million. Nobody knows when the rest of the bathhouse will be renovated.

- A decision has to be made about the bathhouse to be able to renovate, but that money is not in the current state, says Torsten Nilsson (M), chairman of the technical committee.
