The prosecutor of the Republic of Nantes, Pierre Sennès, called Friday night for "caution" after the arrest of a man in Scotland who could be Xavier Dupont Ligonnès, on the run for eight years and suspected of killing his wife and four children in 2011 in Nantes.
"Tomorrow (Saturday NDLR) there are teams of investigators of the national service of the search for the fugitives and judicial police of Nantes who will go to Scotland", specified the public prosecutor to AFP. "They will do checks in Scotland with the person who was arrested at Glasgow Airport to ensure that it is Mr. Dupont de Ligonnès," he added. "So it is appropriate while waiting for these checks to be careful," warned Pierre Sennès.
His fingerprints correspond, according to the Scottish police
The man was arrested "at the end of the afternoon" at Glasgow airport. He was confused by his fingerprints. "There is a suspicion on the fingerprints but it is under verification, being confirmed, and that is why the investigators leave tomorrow in Scotland," added the prosecutor.
According to the Scottish police, his fingerprints correspond to those of Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès, now 58 years old. Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès was last seen on April 15, 2011, leaving on foot a hotel in Roquebrune-sur-Argens in the Var.
