The interest in the Umeå School's so-called manifestation has been great following the statement from the municipal council Anders Ågren (M) and the Moderates in Umeå that the school forced its students on a climate strike against their will.

The School Inspectorate confirms that they have received a notification, but does not choose to investigate the matter.

- These students did not participate in a demonstration but gathered in something they called manifestation. What they did in practice was to gather to report on school work on the climate, ”says Eva-Lena Öhlund-Brändström, Head of Unit at the Umeå School Inspectorate.

"Up to the principal to design the education"

This is how the School Inspectorate writes in its motivation:

“The School Inspectorate has learned that the students at Västangård's school have been teaching about the climate in the form of a theme week where the students have subsequently been given an account of their work for their classmates outdoors. It is up to the principal and teachers at the school to design the education in the way they feel is best for the students. The School Inspectorate does not find reasons to investigate the matter because there is no evidence to suggest that the school has violated the regulations. "
