Many children cannot sleep in separate rooms from their mothers. The presence of a family member next to them in bed enhances the feeling of safety, ensuring that they enjoy a good amount of sleep, but this is not practical in the long run, and the child must get used to sleeping alone .

In this report, published by the Russian FBR website, author Efdukimova Irina reviewed ways to get a child to sleep alone:

Remove electronic devices in front of the child
Turning off the TV and computer in the room where the child sleeps, and removing the tablet and mobile phone from his hands; are things that help the child sleep quickly, knowing that the light emitted by electronic devices deprives the child from enjoying a good sleep.

In this context, it is recommended to ensure that the child stops playing computer games and watching TV about one to two hours before bedtime, especially as these activities stimulate the brain excessively, and thus insomnia.

Moreover, after placing the child in his crib, it is recommended to turn off the light, and if the child is afraid of darkness, the door can be left open.

2 - Adjust habits before bedtime
Familiarize the child with a ritual before bed; such as taking a shower and brushing teeth, reading a short story of the child, would help to prepare the child psychologically for sleep. Evening rituals also reduce stress and anxiety while sleeping separately.

3- Reduce your presence
The writer reported that the sudden transfer of the child to a separate room causes him a sense of tension and fear at night, especially if the child used to sleep with his parents constantly. Therefore, it should be weaned from the habit gradually.

Initially, the child can be placed in a separate bed while sleeping during the day, and then used to sleep separately at night. In the early hours of the night you can sleep next to the child in the same bed, and then move him to a separate room.

It is recommended to put a toy next to the child, which gives him a sense of security even in the absence of parents (communication sites)

4. Help your child get rid of fears
All children are afraid of darkness, prompting many parents to fail to teach their children to sleep alone and in separate rooms. However, the presence of adults alongside children is only a temporary solution.

While being at night with parents gives them a sense of security, it does not help them overcome their fears.

In general, the child imagines at night - while in the dark - monsters, which requires attention to the cartoons that the child is watching, and prevent him from watching programs with scary content, and read the fairy tales fun.

Besides, a toy can be placed next to the child, as well as a fish tank next to his bed, giving him a sense of security even in the absence of parents.

5. Give the child time to sleep
Many parents pledge after putting the child in his bed to stay by his side a little and watch him fall asleep. Therefore, the promise should be fulfilled and leave the child's room after ten or five minutes and not be forced to sleep quickly.

6. Be consistent
Teaching children to sleep separately is a long process. At first, the child is likely to come in the middle of the night and try to lie down with his parents. This behavior is often caused by children who rely heavily on the presence of their parents.

In such cases, parents must remain steady by taking the child to their room and returning them to their bed. In the event of fear, it is advised to calm the child without being driven by his fears and passions.

7. Rewarding children
The author noted that if the child sleeps in a separate room without causing problems, it is recommended to encourage him the next morning by praising him and offering his favorite meals and buying beautiful clothes for him.

Sometimes, parents postpone the issue of sleeping separately because of crying at night and fear of being traumatized by the move.

Psychologists report that although the child may be at such a stage in the short term, he will not be psychologically or physically affected by this change.
