The big event is scheduled for October 17-18, just over three months after the severe air crash in which nine people lost their lives. Johan Hellström, chief instructor at the Umeå parachute club, says that Sweden's largest parachute aircraft will be flown to Umeå.

- It will be fully loaded with jumpers from Stockholm. There will also be jumpers from other clubs in the country.

The idea is that great common jumps will be made from the plane, if the weather the current days allow.

- We hope to have 20 people in the air at the same time, and form formations. The idea is to form a heart, says Johan Hellström.

Want to offer tandem jumps for relatives

During the days, a memorial stone will also be erected at the place where the plane crashed. Relatives will also be invited to the manifestation.

- We will look at the possibility of offering tandem jumps for the relatives, says Johan Hellström.

"Part of the grief work"

The reason for the manifestation is primarily to honor those who perished in the accident. But there are also more reasons, says Johan Hellström.

- It is an opportunity for jumpers in Umeå to be able to jump again, they have only been able to jump on individual occasions after the accident because we no longer have any plan.

He says that jumpers from other parts of Sweden have also wanted to come to Umeå to honor the dead.

- It is part of their grief work, says Hellström, adding:

- This is an initiative that has come from individual jumpers, not from the Umeå club or club hobbies. So it gets extra nice. We feel very honored that we as a club are not alone, says Johan Hellström.
