Pedro Luis Gallego, known as the elevator rapist , who faces 96 years in prison for the rape of two women and two other attempts in 2017 in the vicinity of La Paz hospital, has admitted the facts in the trial that has begun at the Provincial Court. "I am guilty," he said in court, so it was not necessary for him to testify when recognizing the sexual assaults committed.

Nor have they declared the victims of the attacks that have entered the room only to ratify the facts without being interrogated.

Gallego was already sentenced at the time to 273 years in jail for the murder of Leticia Lebrato, 17, in Valladolid, and Marta Obregón, 19, in Burgos, in addition to eighteen other sexual assaults.

He was released in 2013 thanks to the repeal of the Parot doctrine, for which he would have had to be in jail until 2022.

Now Pedro Luis Gallego, who has been in prison since June 16, 2017, faces a 96-year tax petition for the crimes of sexual assault, continued sexual assault, illegal detention, injuries and robbery with violence.

According to the prosecutor's letter, on December 16, 2016 at 11:35 p.m. he approached a child under 17 in the northern part of Madrid, who was gunned down and tried to force his car to his car, taking away his wallet and mobile phone, but he did not succeed thanks to the help of some neighbors.

On February 19, 2017, the defendant allegedly attacked another woman in the north of Madrid, near the La Paz hospital, also with a gun, and managed to put her in her car with her head covered and her hands tied to take her to his house in Segovia, where he sexually assaulted her on at least five occasions.

The next day he left the woman on a street in Madrid , who had also been robbed and who suffered physical and psychological consequences, according to the prosecutor's account.

The third criminal act by which Gallego will sit on the bench again occurred at 1:40 on April 2, 2017, when he approached another young woman in the middle of the street who demanded that the force be introduced into the car, hitting her with a gun to the head. But the young woman was able to flee, says the Fiscal Ministry.

The fourth aggression took place around 10:45 p.m. on April 14, 2017, when the defendant approached another woman who, after placing a gun on his head, pushed into his car, stabbed and covered his eyes to take her to a gas station in the town of Las Rozas, where he abused her.

He then continued to Segovia, where he sexually assaulted her several times until at dawn he returned her to the capital, with injuries. The woman had piscological sequelae, details the Prosecutor's Office.

The National Police arrested Pedro Luis Gallego on June 14, 2017, after six months of search that began after the December aggression, and as more complaints were filed the investigators realized that it was a serial rapist who acted in a manner similar in the vicinity of the La Paz hospital, as explained by research sources.

Finally they located him and proved that he was the rapist of the elevator, who lived in Segovia with a couple who did not know his crimes. He lived without known work, with the money his family gave him and in a seemingly normal way.

The then Chief of Police of Madrid, Alfonso José Fernández, explained at a press conference that this "monster" reacted "as a normal detainee, without speaking, locked in himself", and clarified that it was a person who had already served his sentence for other similar crimes and "on which no extraordinary measure could be applied," such as surveillance.

Last July, Gallego attempted suicide in the prison of Herrera de la Mancha (Ciudad Real), where he is being held, where he was found with signs of overdose.
