In general, the speed limit is 80 kilometers per hour on road 320, at the same time as the road section has several curves that can be difficult to handle at that speed and departures are not uncommon. Recently an accident occurred near Anundgård, fortunately not with fatal outcome.

- There are many curves on this road that we call "dark" which means that you only see the entrance to the curve, not the exit, "explains Alexandra Bergström, who is a preliminary investigator at the police in Medelpad with special responsibility for traffic offenses.

Four fatal accidents

Statistics show that road 320 between Kovland and the county border with Jämtland is one of the more dangerous roads in Västernorrland when it comes to single accidents. Although the traffic intensity is considerably lower than on, for example, the European roads.

Since 2012, there have been four fatalities with a fatal outcome on the road, which has no equivalent in the county, except for the much more busy E4.

Logging Accidents

The most recent fatal accident happened last fall, near Sandnäset, when a lumber car went off the road in a curve and the driver died. And just half a year before that accident, another lumber truck drove off in another deadly curve.

- If you look at how the vehicles have driven off, I can say that the road has a part in the responsibility, says Alexandra Bergström, who believes that at least one of the accident curves is incorrectly constructed.

- One of these curves has a dosage that feels wrong.

"Should be reviewed"

Alexandra Bergström points out that all single accidents on road 320 cannot be linked to the condition of the road, but she thinks that the accident statistics stand out and that one should look over the road from a road safety perspective.

- Many people come in with complaints and think it is both tragic and difficult that it should be this way, she says.
