After Friday prayers, a number of Egyptian cities and governorates started demonstrations after Friday prayers, calling for the departure of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, amid a high security alert.

In al-Warraq area in Giza governorate, the demonstrators chanted slogans calling for the departure of al-Sisi.

In Luxor, south of Egypt, the streets of the city and its alleys started demonstrations demanding the Egyptian president to step down.

In the city of Qus, Qena Governorate, a demonstration marched through the streets of the city and called for the departure of Sisi.

Demonstrators in the province also tore pictures of the Egyptian president and condemned his administration of the state and the spread of corruption amid the deterioration of living conditions of citizens.

Egyptian police blocked roads this morning to Cairo's Tahrir Square, the symbol of the January 25, 2011 revolution, in anticipation of the demonstrations.

Google Maps also showed the closure of streets, roads and bridges leading to Tahrir Square, most notably the 6th of October Bridge and the Nile Palace Bridge.

The Egyptian underground authority announced the closure of opera stations, Sadat, Nasser and Orabi downtown Cairo for maintenance.
