Linn Krogh has driven a truck on route 172 since 2015 and is well acquainted with all the curves of the road.

And even though it is not possible to prove that it is the curves behind the many accidents on the road, on average one accident per mile per year, they are problematic.

The examination of data in the Swedish Transport Administration's databases that SVT has done shows that every fourth curve in the 172 has side friction problems, so-called fault-dosed curves. This means that the curve is too narrow and has too low slope in relation to the permissible speed.

- It should be a change. There should not be so many accidents, says Linn Krogh.

Almost half the way there are curves

SVT's data journalists have closely studied 75 kilometers of the 83-kilometer stretch between Arvika and Gustafsfors. There are 223 curves, which make up 49 percent of the way. Of these, 58 curves have side friction problems, which is well known among those who are on the road.

- I remember that the first time I went down to Billingsfors, my colleagues said that you can roll over in every curve and that you absolutely do not get the exact same. It was very dangerous that way, so I was very nervous when I drove there the first time, ”says Linn Krogh.

Dad agrees

She is supported in the image of the road by the man who is both her father and employer.

- It's not just faulty curves. In many places the road hangs and falls off the sides. There are many drivers who choose to drive the detour over Koppom on County Road 177 to avoid the problems, says Nils-Ivar Krogh, who runs the haulage where Linn Krogh works.

There have been 27 accidents on the near-stretch of County Road 172 over the past five years, including a fatal accident. Over the entire distance between Arvika and Gustafsfors, there have been over 40 accidents, two of which were fatal accidents.

- Take it carefully, all of you who drive this road! is Linn Krogh's call for his fellow road users.

Direct report · Which do you think is the most dangerous road in Värmland?

Given the traffic intensity, E45 is the most dangerous, especially between Fagerås and Sunne. It is narrow and partly goes through buildings where people walk, bike and rest dogs. This is the main route north through Värmland with both heavy traffic and tourists, not least ski tourists towards the mountain world.

E45 Fagerås - Sunne has lots of narrow roadways so you have to keep track of the side mirrors so that you do not slam into oncoming vehicles. The fact that county roads do not have such good road standards is not the whole world, because then you had to make a tunnel between Västra Ämtervik and Brunskog.

Road 26 from Kristinehamn south towards Gullspång. Very heavy traffic, extra heavy traffic during school holidays. Very much game, especially moose, very many game accidents, upsetting is that there are no warning signs for moose! Which is very strange, many accidents could probably have been avoided. VERY bad by the Swedish Road Administration
