Mobilization against pension reform continues. At the initiative of the CGT, demonstrations throughout France and a strike at the SNCF are scheduled for Tuesday, September 24. The union obtained the support of SUD-Rail to disrupt the rail network as much as possible.

It is not a unitary mobilization of the unions. It was decided in July by the CGT but without consultation of other confederations. After hesitation, Solidaire decided to join the demonstrations. There will also be the FSU, the Unsaturated Railway and youth organizations. Nearly 150 processions are planned everywhere in France.

We need to build the mobilization over time

As for the strike at the SNCF, the CGT will be supported only by SUD-Rail. Even though the unions say that they have been thinking about unitary action for months, for the moment, it is the division that reigns. Force Ouvrière demonstrated alone last Saturday. No new date of mobilization is planned, but union leaders opposed to the pension reform ensure that they discuss together with the objective of unity.

The CFDT, the first union in the country, supports the idea of a universal regime by points, even if its number 1 Laurent Berger is critical on some aspects of the reform whose outline should be presented at the end of the week by Emmanuel Macron.
