Most of the money comes from EU Life funds and the project runs for six years. The project will restore the environment in the watercourses, remove migratory obstacles for fish and reintroduce the threatened river pearl mussel. Of the 90 million, approximately 45 million will be spent in Jämtland County.

- The project will start formally this autumn, but next year the practical efforts will start, says Jens Fuchs, Head of Unit at the Water Unit at the County Administrative Board in Jämtland.

Similar projects have been carried out in the county in the past. One of these is the Triple Lakes project, where efforts have been made in Näkten, Locknesjön and Revsundssjön.
