Will Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi keep his promise and leave office? Perhaps this is the question that many Egyptians have in mind after demonstrations calling for him to leave on accusations of corruption.

The streets of several Egyptian provinces witnessed demonstrations on Friday night demanding Sisi to leave, in response to the call made by actor and contractor Mohamed Ali, who called on the army to force Sisi to step down.

Will the Egyptian president respond to the demands of the Egyptians, especially as he repeated more than once that he would leave immediately if that was the will of the people?

Repeated promise

In May 2014 in response to a question about the possibility of military action against Sisi, as happened with former Presidents Hosni Mubarak and Mohamed Morsi; Sisi said he would not wait until the army moves.

"I will not wait until there is a third ball, if people go out I will say I'm under your command, I will not wait for the army .. I am afraid for my country."

In December 2015 during the celebration of the Prophet's birthday, Sisi talked about the opposition's calls for a demonstration, and said, "I have come with your will and your choice, never anger you."

"National, moral and human dignity does not make me sit one second against the will of the people."

Sisi swore three times, "God, God, God, not a second against the will of the people, if the will of the Egyptians is not what they descend."

He cited the verse: "O Allah, the king's owner, bring the king of the will and take the king out of the will."

In April 2017, in response to a question during a youth conference: What would Sisi do if he did not succeed in the presidential elections, the Egyptian president replied in the oath that he would not sit a second against the will of the Egyptians.

"Part of the great God if the Egyptians do not want, I will not sit again in this place, I do not allow myself and do not accept to be in my place against your will."

In May 2018, in response to Egyptians' criticism of economic reform decisions that increased the suffering of the poor and the middle class, Sisi said he would leave if Egyptians asked for it.

"If I don't make those decisions, no one else will take them, because everyone is afraid that people will come out and say go," he said.

In reaction to the promise of Sisi to leave if the Egyptians asked; activists launched the name "Go Sissy", which first issued social networking sites for several days.

But in July 2018, the Egyptian president expressed his outrage at the label.``When I brought you out of destitution and made you a significant nation, you will work, '' he said.

In January 2019, Sisi repeated his promise to leave at a news conference with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron.

Sisi said that he stands in his presidential position at the will of the Egyptians, and that he is ready to leave the post immediately if the Egyptians asked him to do so, adding, "I want to reassure you .. I am not ashamed that the majority of Egypt rejects my presence. I will give up my position immediately. "
