Englishman Danny Willett, winner of the 2016 Masters, and Spaniard Jon Rahm, N.6 World, took the lead of the BMW Championship after the second round on Friday at the Wentworth course where Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy N.2 worldwide, narrowly escaped elimination.

With a total of 133, 11 under par, Willett, only 462nd world player after missing the cut at Wentworth, precisely, in May 2018, and Rahm count two shots ahead of a trio composed of the English Justin Rose , N.4, Swedish Henrik Stenson and South African Christiaan Bezuidenhout.

Italian Francesco Molinari, winner of the British Open 2018, is 12th (-5) while McIlroy, who already has four majors to his name, has qualified for accuracy (+1) for the last two rounds.

France's Mike Lorenzo-Vera is ranked 17th, tied with American Patrick Reed, after signing a -4.
