Meetings were held at the US Department of State for the Middle East Strategic Alliance, which groups the United States, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Egypt and Jordan.

A joint statement by the coalition states that the meetings held on Monday and Sunday discussed the continued development of the coalition and building greater cooperation in the Gulf region in the face of common threats, and discussed the current tension in the region.

Coalition members strongly condemned the attack on Saudi Aramco's oil facilities aimed at disrupting oil markets and regional stability.

The statement stressed the importance of continued cooperation to enhance security, peace and stability in the region, promote and expand economic opportunities, and promote and secure vital energy sectors.

On Saturday, drones targeted Saudi oil facilities, disrupting half of the kingdom's oil production.

Yemen's Houthi group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but Saudi Arabia and the United States said the attacks were launched from Iran.
