On Tuesday, the government presented its budget for 2020, which showed that the general government grants to the municipalities will be increased by 3.5 billion. 100 million will be awarded to the municipalities in Sörmland.

Grant for receiving new arrivals

Temporary support will also be provided to the municipalities that have received a large number of new arrivals in relation to their population in recent years. Three municipalities in Sörmland can benefit from this - Flen gets 2.4 million, Oxelösund gets 1.5 million and Vingåker 1.1 million.

- We have a great challenge in the municipality and all supplements are welcome, says Anneli Bengtsson (S), municipal council in Vingåkers municipality.

Far from the labor market

She tells us that the supplement will either be used for labor market measures or to cover the deficit in the welfare support.

- We have not had any problems with the reception itself, because the municipality has a long history of this, but it is difficult after the establishment. Many new Swedes are far from the labor market and our support for support is skyrocketing, she says.

The government will also push 410 million to 32 municipalities to reduce segregation. In Sörmland, Eskilstuna receives 113 million, Nyköping 90 million and Katrineholm 80 million.
