Eight Saudi soldiers have been killed in clashes with Houthi rebels in the southern border in the past two days, Saudi media reported.

Media have reported that at least 15 Saudi soldiers have been killed since the beginning of September in clashes on the southern border of the kingdom.

Frequently over the past years, Saudi soldiers have been killed in Houthi attacks on southern Saudi Arabia.

Two days ago, six Emirati soldiers fighting in Yemen were killed.

Initially, Abu Dhabi announced the deaths of its six soldiers in a collision of military vehicles "while on duty". The official UAE news agency reported on Saturday that the soldiers had been killed "defending the Yemeni people against a gang that has rebelled against the legitimate authority."

Yemen has been fighting for four years between government forces backed by the Saudi-Emirati coalition and the Houthis, who control several provinces, including Sanaa.

The fighting killed more than 70,000 people, according to UN estimates in mid-June.

In addition to the frontlines in Yemen, the Houthis launch attacks across the Saudi-Yemeni border, targeting Saudi forces and a number of Saudi installations with rockets and missiles.
