Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman received a delegation of American evangelicals on the second visit by a similar delegation to the Kingdom whose leadership seeks to improve its image abroad in terms of religious tolerance.

During the meeting between Ben Salman and the delegation headed by Israeli-American writer Joel Rosenberg, "the importance of joint efforts to promote coexistence and tolerance and combat extremism and terrorism was stressed," the official Saudi Press Agency reported.

The visit came ahead of the anniversary of the September 11, 2001, attacks in the United States. Most of the suicide bombers who hijacked the planes that crashed into the Twin Towers in New York were Saudis.

"I am very honored to be back in Saudi Arabia for the second time in less than a year," Rosenberg wrote in a tweet on Twitter.

"We met with the Crown Prince and other senior officials to discuss terrorism, peace, religious freedom and human rights."

The meeting between the Crown Prince and the US delegation was attended by Princess Rima Bint Bandar, Saudi Ambassador in Washington, Prince Khalid Bin Salman, Deputy Minister of Defense, Mohammed Al-Essa, Secretary General of the Muslim World League, and Adel Al-Jubeir, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.

The crown prince also received a US evangelical delegation led by Rosenberg in November 2018.
