The Minister of Health and Community Protection, Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al Owais, issued a decision to reduce the price of 410 medicinal items, in line with the government's directions to reduce the prices of services, and based on the ministry's keenness to support and provide medicines at competitive prices and compatible with the lowest Gulf price to support patients.

The ministry addressed the companies concerned to hold a meeting, on the fifth of last August, chaired by the Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Public Health and Licensing Policy, Dr. Amin Hussein Al-Amiri, and the presence of 58 local, Gulf and international companies, in order to coordinate joint efforts between the ministry and companies, to support patients and provide pharmaceutical services of standards The initiative also provides patients with wider options to reduce the leakage of counterfeit medicines through online pharmacies and other unreliable sources.

The ministry addressed the concerned companies officially, in preparation for taking the necessary steps to reduce prices, within a specific time frame for implementation on September 15, and the main objective of the meeting was to activate the strategic partnership between the ministry and private pharmaceutical companies operating in the country, and to find the basis for the prior coordination of the implementation and implementation of this initiative.

The list of drug varieties included in the reduction, a wide range of areas for the treatment of a number of diseases related to cardiovascular, high blood pressure, fat reduction and angina drugs, which are common chronic diseases, and a reduction rate of between 2 and 77%, of which 183 locally manufactured and 227 factories Regionally globally.

The Ministry applies the highest standards and practices in the pricing system, where the pricing system is subject to influential factors, based on periodic follow-up and guidance on similar prices in the global and regional pharmaceutical markets, taking into account the patient's interest in the first place, to provide sustainability in the pharmaceutical varieties, especially those concerned with chronic diseases , Taking into account the economies of companies operating in the State, to ensure the continuity of its business and logistics operations, which contributes to achieve a balanced pharmaceutical market.

The Ministry noted the positive and rapid response of the pharmaceutical companies with their initiatives to reduce the prices of innovative medicines in the previous stages, which stems from the strategic partnership between the Ministry and the international and regional pharmaceutical companies that have chosen the UAE as the regional headquarters for the Middle East and North Africa.

The ministry follows strict laws and standards when registering all pharmaceutical products before placing them on state markets, making sure pharmaceutical companies follow good manufacturing practices, contain the same active substances and the same concentration, and have the same medical uses.
