Russian Deputy Foreign Minister meets with Lebanese Prime Minister

It is noted that the parties discussed the situation in Lebanon, including the situation on the Lebanese-Israeli border.

As it was specified, “the importance of preventing recurrence of the escalation of tension that took place at the end of last week was noted.”

“The Russian side reaffirmed its principled position in support of the relevant efforts of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon, rigorous compliance with the provisions of UN Security Council resolution 1701, respect for the unity, territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Lebanese Republic,” the Foreign Ministry said.

At the end of March, Russian ambassador to Beirut Alexander Zasypkin told RT about cooperation between Russia and Lebanon.
