A student, Khalifa Abdullah Al Kaabi, saved his classmates from a school bus fire in Kalba that almost caused a disaster. He played a heroic role when he evacuated his colleagues and the leader of the bus, seconds before it exploded, and set it on fire.

Civil defense teams in Kalba took control of the bus fire, which belongs to the Emirates Transport Corporation, without causing any injuries among the three students who were traveling in the bus, including Khalifa Al Kaabi, at the beginning of the school day.

Al-Kaabi told Emirates Today that he waited for his school bus outside the house, and when he was riding it, he noticed that there was intense heat emanating from below, and he saw light smoke, which raised his suspicion. Breathing, which made him inform the bus driver.

He continued: «The bus leader responded to me, and checked it, but he told us that everything is fine, and not to worry», adding: «Then I found the flames burning the bus directly from behind, so I fell on my colleague and pushed near the door and asked him to go down immediately, then "I went to a younger student and took him out of his hand and took him off the bus before anything wrong happened."

He pointed out that «the fire spread very quickly in the bus as soon as they landed, which made him ask the phone of the bus commander to call the Civil Defense to extinguish the fire».

The father of the child Kaabi: «parents must educate their children and train them to behave in emergency situations, and I was not surprised that my son does such an act, because he always asked about emergency numbers, especially when he finds them hanging on the walls of medical clinics», explaining that his son during the incident Call the police number 999 and tell her about his location and reasons for calling.

He added that his son is in the seventh grade and is an elite student at Al-Kidwa Basic Education School in Kalba.

According to the Kalba civil defense, the teams extinguished the fire in a two-minute period, so that the fire from nearby vehicles would not extend from the burning bus and then into the houses.

In addition, the Ministry of Education, in cooperation with the competent authorities, is investigating the causes of the bus burning.
