To date, around 139 saddles have been stolen in Östergötland and this is an estimated value of at least SEK 1.3 million, police say. Most recently, a stable was hit in Linköping municipality around August 17.

"The same stall was hit by a theft earlier in June," says Per Vadeby, an analyst on crime coordination at the Eastern Police Region.

But the police have not been able to arrest anyone.

- No, we don't have any suspects. We have found some traces, but not some that have led to any suspects, says Per Vadeby.

The saddles are sold abroad

Police believe it is a league that sells the saddles abroad.

- We think it's about ordering jobs, says Per Vadeby.

How likely are you to get hold of someone?

- Hard to say. This is if you manage to secure DNA or fingerprints from, for example, a tool, which then gives a hit to a person in the DNA or fingerprint register. Otherwise, it is about succeeding in taking someone on a bar deed, he says.

Cases closed due to lack of traces

He further explains that the environment is difficult, many move in the stable and it is difficult to find traces and several of the cases have also been closed.

- It is difficult we do not have much to go on, many of the cases are closed as we have not found any traces, says Per Vadeby.

Stall owners are now invited to be observant, as well as to look at the doors of locks and any alarm equipment in their saddle chambers.
