The assassination attempt against the guards took place on April 12 at Årsta square in southern Stockholm.

- Årsta has had problems with younger guys who have acquired a certain amount of violence and threat capital and have taken liberties. Then people from the community have wanted to create security and the guards were there to talk to people about the situation in the area, says chamber prosecutor Lisa dos Santos.

In connection with the meeting, the guards expelled a 17-year-old and a 19-year-old, who were identified as part of the gang that spread fear, from the scene.

When the guards were to drive from there, they were shot.

- They have managed to pry the driver's door on the car at a fairly long distance. It's pure coincidence that the bullet doesn't go through the box, says Lisa dos Santos.

"Seems to own the neighborhood"

Now, the two young men, along with a 19-year-old, are being charged with the murder trial and a number of other crimes.

According to the prosecutor, there was an escalation of violence in the area until the attempted murder against the guards.

- These are young guys who like to own the district and who exercise power over adults, says Lisa dos Santos.

Shot into apartment

One of the 19-year-olds is also suspected of another attempted murder, where two men were shot in an apartment in Årsta at the end of February. The men had been on their way home from the pub when they encountered a gang.

"You have been confronted, then pushed into the apartment that the men have entered," the prosecutor says.

Later that night, the 19-year-old is suspected of threatening a taxi in the same area.

- He jumps into the taxi, but instead of saying where he wants to go, he brings out a weapon, asks the taxi driver to leave the car and drive away himself, says Lisa dos Santos.

The three defendants deny all suspicions.
