It was the night of the fourth of March this year that the emergency services were alerted to the preschool in central Halmstad. The building could not be salvaged but burned down to the mine.

The 30 preschoolers who went there had to be evacuated to a ward. At the same time, a preliminary investigation into the arson fire was initiated.

"We have reason to believe that it is constructed, but we do not have enough good testimony from when the fire started," says Cecilia Bergsten, head of the Root of Crime in Halland.

Technicians took fire samples from several different points in the fire area. Now the test answers have arrived.

- In one of them we found a flammable liquid. The test provides support for the liquid being used here, says Cecilia Bergsten.

However, that is the only thing the police have to go on. Otherwise, there are no other traces, either fingerprints or DNA. Thus, there is also no suspect. Witnesses from the site exist, but their testimonies should not be sufficient. Therefore, the investigation was closed at the end of May.

No threat

- Fires are one of the most difficult to manage when it comes to tracks. They burn just as well as everything else. Finding evidence in a coal pile is not easy, says Cecilia Bergsten.

What kind of flammable liquid should have been used at preschool, she does not want to say if a suspect would show up later.

Are there any reasons why anyone would like to light up at preschool?

- No. There is no threat, as far as we know, answers Cecilia Bergsten.
