At least 23 people have died and another 13 have been injured in the early hours of Wednesday in a fire in a Coatzalcoalcos bar, in the state of Veracruz, in eastern Mexico, as confirmed by the State Attorney General's Office in a statement

The Prosecutor now investigates whether the fire was intentional. Among the deceased there are eight women and 15 men.

The first reports suggest that the fire was caused by an attack with Molotov bombs while some local media point out that shots were also recorded inside the bar 'The White Horse'.

Cuitláhuac García, governor of Veracruz, wrote in a message on Twitter that "the crime will not go unpunished."
