“Before talking about contacts in the Norman format, in principle, and before planning them, I would like to understand how the new government, when it is formed, will determine its position regarding the Minsk agreements,” the minister said to the press conferences.

According to him, Russia, as its partners in Germany and France, firmly believes that the new Ukrainian government will unequivocally confirm its commitment to the Minsk agreements.

He stressed that this confirmation is necessary due to the fact that during the pre-election period, representatives of the new office of the President of Ukraine made a lot of contradictory statements that went against the obligations of Kiev under the Minsk agreements.

Lavrov called for the separation of forces and assets in three regions of Donbass, after which, in his opinion, the Norman format will be able to get together and agree on the extension of this practice to the entire line of contact.

Earlier, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that Germany and France are calling for a meeting in the Norman format in Paris.
