Toddler was locked in with chain and gate - found by police

One door was locked with a safety chain and in front of the doorway to the other room was a chest of drawers and a gate.

The whole thing was discovered at the beginning of the year, when a police patrol was on the scene in another case. After repeated knocking on the front door, the police entered the residence, where the couple was sleeping.

"You had to go into the apartment, and there you met these two children in each room," Prosecutor Pernilla Wilén told TT.

According to the indictment, the police took repeated attempts to wake the parents. The children were awake trapped in their rooms with frayed diapers.

One of the suspects is the child's parent. Both refuse a crime, but Pernilla Wilén does not want to say anything about what they have said in police interrogations or if they have given any explanation for the whole thing.

- I don't want to go into their information. They have been heard a few times by the police, but I do not want to precede the hearing. But the chains and the gate have been deliberately set up, says Wilén.

However, there is no indication that the children have been abused, says Wilén.

Since this is a suspected crime against children, the incident is also reported to the social services.
