The authorities in Norway have for some time been stressed over fishing tourists who, according to them, have taken up far too much fish. Last year, therefore, the limit for what each person may bring out of the country was reduced to 10 kilos of caught fish.

- This is not where the problem is, look at the revenue per kilo of tourist caught cod and compare it with the professional fishing cod, says Per-Erik Jacobsen.

Smuggling land has increased

Norway's State Secretary Roy Angelvik tells NRK that it is time to discuss the fish brought from Norway by foreign fishermen. Smuggling land is said to have increased in line with fishing tourism.

And according to NRK Troms, there are more than six tonnes of fish brought out of the country so far this year, despite a doubling of the fine, writes Norrbottens Kuriren.

"It will hit the tourism industry in Norway, I think there is a strong internal resistance," says Per-Erik Jacobsen, at Sportfiskarna.
