After a difficult month of August, Bayern Munich finally woke up Saturday, winning 3-0 at Schalke with a hat-trick from Polish striker Robert Lewandowski for the second day of the Bundesliga.
Philippe Coutinho, the Brazilian star transferred this week from Barcelona, made his big debut in the Bundesliga by entering on the hour.
With four points, the "Rekordmeister" tentatively stands in 4th place, behind the three six-point teams, Dortmund, Freiburg and Leverkusen.
Leipzig and Wolfsburg, also winners in the first day, play Sunday and can still upset this ranking.
Bayern lost the German Super Cup to Dortmund in August (2-0), and conceded a draw at home on the first day of the championship at Hertha Berlin (2-2).
