The prefecture said Saturday night that 68 people were arrested Saturday as part of the security system around the G7. Of these, 38 were placed in police custody.
The event was held under high security, with a massive mobilization of law enforcement: more than 13,000 police and gendarmes throughout the Basque Country. Demonstrations by opponents were fearing violence. If one, planned and authorized, took place in the calm, a few hundred people took the streets of Bayonne in the afternoon and friction broke out.
